Maximum # of students: 12

Minimum experience level:  To attend the class, students must have at least one year’s experience tying flies.

Details of the class as provided by Mike:

Normally I try to have two flies to tie during the two-day class. On the first day we will tie a fully dressed, married wing fly. Then on the second day we will tie a full-feather wing fly which is not as difficult as a married wing fly but still important as there are many techniques we'll use for the full-feather wing fly. With two flies to tie I try to include as many techniques as possible to make the two-day session worthy for all. What I will do for each material that is attached to the hook I will show how each is done.

Let's say, for example, I want to find the best topping for a tail. I show how I decide which topping will be right for it, then I show how I prepare the topping. Next I show how I securely attach the tail to the hook. After I do that I will stop to give tails to all the students who will mimic what I did to prepare the topping and then attach the tail to the hook. I will get up and walk around to see how each student is doing with the tail. I will do that for each step during building the fly so that each student will have a good grounding for attaching each material to the hook.
