The next Atlantic Salmon Fly International (ASFI) will be held in Stjørdal, Norway. –We’re honoured to win the ASFI 2020 and are looking forward to inviting fellow fly tiers to Stjørdal, says chairman Jon Strand.
The idea for an expo for Atlantic salmon flies dawned on Rockwell Hammond Jr in November 2012 and the first bi-annual ASFI was held in 2014. The event quickly claimed its position as the most important salmon fly tying expo for Atlantic salmon flies in the world. After two successful shows in Renton, WA, USA in 2014 and 2016, this year’s show was held in Miramichi, Canada.
Crossing the Atlantic from Miramichi in Canada to the small town of Stjørdal the six people strong organization committee will welcome participants to one of the cradles of Atlantic salmon fly tying and fishing.
Stjørdal is one of the capitals for salmon fishing in Norway. Located in close proximity to Gaula, Orkla and the queen of rivers, Namsen, the small town is the perfect venue for the ASFI in 2020.
–We hope to attract 80 of the best salmon fly tiers when we meet in traditional surroundings in Stjørdal in 2020.
The ASFI Norway board consist of six committed fly tiers and fly fishers: Jon Strand (chairman), Håvard Eide (IT), Kjell S. Rakkenes (Marketing), Børre Pettersen (Strategy and Fundraising), Sandra Tjørn (Transportation and spouse program) and Preben Moen (Fundraising).
The ASFI in Stjørdal will be held 26. – 28. June 2020.
The norwegian committee is working on more information about the 2020-event, until then: visit the site for ASFI-2018 for information on this years event:
